Christmas Tree Decorating

As much as I love the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I especially LOVE decorating our home and picking out the perfect Christmas tree for the season.  We/I pretty much decided that we would always have a real tree, I didn't want to have a fake tree in our house.  I wanted one with a scentsy smell, prickly branches, tiny little pieces falling off and obnoxiously getting stuck in the carpet (that I will complain about every single time I vacuum them up!).  But I wouldn't trade the real deal for anything else.

When John and I spent our first married Christmas together, we decided to make it a tradition to go search for and cut down our tree.  We thought it would be a fun tradition to start and hopefully one that our kids would enjoy doing together as a family some day.  (Cue Christmas Vacation here!)  We've had a few fun years doing this and I definitely look forward to our tree cutting day when Christmas is starting to loom in the future.

With all that being said... We did not cut our tree down this year, we did not search for the "perfect" one and it was a terrible, terrible let-down for me.  I almost feel as if we didn't have a holiday season this year.  With the chaos of our move (post coming!) and packing up our entire house, we didn't get a chance to do it.

Our beautiful tree is a Home Depot-already-cut-down special.  In fact, John picked this baby up one night while I was at work.  And I kid you not, when I came home the next morning, I barely noticed it was standing in the tree stand until Hannah pointed it out.

But needless to say, we had fun decorating (with limited decorations) and enjoyed setting up some of the Christmas decorations around the house.  I am certainly looking forward to "decking the halls" next year as we are settled into our new home.

Kids did not want to pose in front of the tree              Noah did not like
that he couldn't take the ornaments
off, hence the crying face :)

But I'll sneak over there and bring this to you dad, because I'm so cute!  What a stinker butt!
