Noah didn't have a typical visit to the pedi this month, but we did take an extra visit in for a weight check-up. With the slow weight gain and progress he made at the 6 month visit, we headed in to see how Noah would fair this time around.
He weighed in at 15 lbs. 13 oz. (8%). This was a gain from 14# 5oz (4%) last month. In a little under 4 weeks he gained a pound and a half. With seeing this progress and weight gain, the pedi believes Noah is going to be a small guy, so nothing to worry about at this point. (A mother never worries...haha!)
Noah has been practicing his moves this month. He is much better sitting up for longer stretches of time, but makes a nice little face plant forward if you don't catch him quick enough. All the scooting around last month prepared him for a pretty decent army crawl to get himself around. His little left arm reaches forward and pulls his body around, he's quite the strong fella. Its a start to crawling, but none-the-less, we have a mover! With this new-found freedom comes the added safety measure of keeping doors closed, steps secured, and bracing ourselves for having to keep tabs on the location of TWO children now!
Noah certainly has a strong oral fixation, or stubborn teeth that just aren't quite ready to poke through. EVERYTHING goes into the mouth. Once in the hand, it heads straight for the mouth to be chewed or sucked on. And the drool follows suit. As we have mastered the hand-mouth coordination, we've also discovered blowing raspberries. How this started, I'm not sure, but he loves to get his sister giggling when he blows raspberries. This feat has not been fun at the dinner table while trying to feed baby food, but who can resist that cute little face?!
Noah is up to eating oatmeal twice a day, at lunch and dinner time. We've also recently added vegetables to the dinner menu with his oatmeal. So far Noah has eaten green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, and combo veggies, and all with no complaints. Of course trying new food comes with the initial yucky face or gagging attempt, but overall he has been pretty receptive to all foods. Thankfully!!
Hannah is testing her limits as a big sister. As Noah can move around and reach for toys, this doesn't make Hannah too happy. She is constantly taking toys away from him. This sharing business is pretty difficult to teach and often ends in hefty tears of frustration for Hannah. But when she's not stealing or pulling Noah away from something by his legs, she showers Noah with kisses, reads him books, and giggles and giggles at the funny things Noah does. I'm thankful for two amazing kiddos :)
