Noah -- our happy-go-lucky, easy-going, screeching, sweet, adorable little boy! If I thought Hannah was pretty happy and laid back, Noah makes her look difficult. Noah is so relaxed, super-laid back, and go-with-the-flow baby. Rarely do things seem to mind him, except his over-aggressive/helpful sister at times. Noah will fall asleep anywhere, at any time, in any position. (He must get his sleep from me) Where Hannah would only sleep in her crib, he will sleep wherever he feels like it.
His sleep isn't as great as Hannah's was, but its still not anything I can complain about. His naps are a little more sporadic during the day, where Hannah was more structured and routine and we knew her habits to a T. Even though the daytime naps are hit or miss, thankfully he sleeps all night. He peeps and cries out a few times during the night, but giving him his paci and handing him his blankie put him right back to sleep. Hannah was pretty good about not needing her paci when she woke in the middle of the night, but this guy seems to enjoy his a LOT more. We will certainly have a much harder time taking that away I'm sure...
Noah tried oatmeal for the first time. He seemed to like it... didn't really make any horrible faces and kept opening his mouth for each spoonful. We decided to skip rice cereal and go for oatmeal instead. When Hannah ate it, she never seemed to care for it, so we went the same route this time as well. Since having the oatmeal, Noah has had some pretty horrible toots and gas! Hopefully as his system adjusts to food and not just breastmilk, this will get better. It is so stinky!!
Noah is getting closer to making his move! He likes to scoot around in a circle when he's on his belly. He is starting to get up onto his hands and knees and rock back and forth. He's still working on sitting up on his own. He is pretty close, but can't quite sit up for too long before he folds over in half. We're still working on building those abs!!
Noah also likes to stand with your help. He loves when he's held up so he can bounce up and down. He also loves when he sits on your legs and you bounce him around. He really gets giggling when that happens. I love hearing that sweet sound!
Noah likes to take his paci out of his mouth and put it back in. He likes to hold it and chew on the nipple part. He's still working on those teeth! And of course, all that teething as made for some terrible diarrhea days. Can't wait until one actually pokes through!
Noah started at daycare with his sister this month and so far he has done really well. There were so screams and tears at drop-off, so that makes it a little easier for me! I was way more nervous about Noah starting than I ever was for Hannah. Maybe its because Noah is a lot cuddlier and wants to be held more, or maybe because he's not such a good sleeper and wants to be held if he can't fall back asleep, I'm not sure.... but for whatever reason, I have a hard time leaving him there. I'm sure this will get easier, but thankfully he is sleeping and taking his bottles well while he is there.
And lastly, Noah's 6 month doctor's check-up..... this was an interesting appointment. At his 4 month check-up his weight hadn't really gone up drastically and his percentile dropped. I was really curious to see what would happen two months later at this one, and curiosity is not what I walked away with. More like disappointment and a lot more nerves. Noah's weight percentile dropped again, to the 4%, only gaining one pound in two months. Our doc assured us not to worry, but the NICU RN in me starts to go in the medical direction of what could possibly be wrong?! We will head back in 4 weeks to do another weight check and go from there. Hoping it was just a combination of growing and a little case of the sickies we had in there that have haltered things.
In the meantime, some fun sibling pictures. I love theses two, and can't wait to see them continue to grow together, hopefully into good friends.
And my little man! I love that little curious face and just want to smother him in kisses :)
