Noah 3 Months

My little bubba is three months!  12 weeks old, how did that happen already?!
I love his little baby face, his sweet little cheeks, and his smile just melts my heart.

We didn't have a doctor's visit this month, but at our sick kiddo visit, Noah weighed 12 lbs, 5oz.  He's continuing to gain weight and get bigger right before our eyes.

These two kids are so much fun!  I can't wait for Hannah and Noah to chase each other around, build towers, color and really play together.  But for now, I'll sit back and watch her kiss him, play with his legs to make him giggle, and try her best to protect her little brother.

Noah is certainly a happy little man, he is rather chill and laid back (most of the time).  He deals with his sister's intensity - she can be a tad rough with him.  He just sits back and seems to take it all in.  He has a more cuddly personality than Hannah did as a baby, I'm grateful for all the extra baby snuggles he likes to give me.

Noah has been on a really good schedule, just like Hannah did as a baby.  It seems to work best for our busy schedules to keep him more regimented and he seems to respond to it nicely.  We didn't rush him into the routine, he took his time, where Hannah picked it up rather quickly.  He's awake by 8am, nurses, and goes back for a little nap between 9-9:30am.  Wakes again around 11 and typically is awake til around 12:30.  Wakes again by 2 to nurse and I try to get him back down between 3-3:30.  Up to nurse at 5, then he takes a short 30-45 min nap after 6:30 before its bedtime around 8pm.

In the beginning of month 3, his napping was pretty terrible.  He would only sleep 30-45 mins in his crib.  He would fall back asleep if you picked him up and held him for a little while.  We would follow this same pattern over and over until the next feeding time.  It made for some frustrations because I couldn't get anything done, or start any kind of projects with Hannah before I had to go pick him up to stop his cries.  Now as the weeks have continued on, he is doing better and taking longer and longer naps everyday.  I am happy with how well he has been doing.

Now you may be thinking that if his naps are terrible, he must sleep bad at night... Well, thankfully this little boy can sleep then!  He had his first sleep-through-the-entire-night while I was in PA with the kiddos.  And since then he has had another 10 nights or so of sleeping all the way through.  If he doesn't sleep all night, he typically wakes up once to feed between 2-4am.  He is up to nurse or take a bottle and back to sleep in 20-30 minutes.  He goes right back to sleep without any fight.  The nights I am away at work, he is great for John.  He takes his bottle so good for him and is back to sleep just as quickly.  It is a really nice thing for both of us.  Some nights w try to push him to see if he can make it all night.  If he will take the pacifier and not cry or fuss, then we try to let him sleep a little longer.  This is all in hopes that he will just get used to going 10-12 hours.  But he is getting there, and we are really happy with the night time.

We've been working on his self-soothing to get back to sleep.  He really is not a cry-it-out kiddo.  It seems that if we let him CIO he only cries harder and more.  What works best is quickly picking him up, cuddling him for a few minutes, then back to sleep he goes.

Noah is definitely a little talker.  He coos and squeals, and really tries to be vocal.  He let out his first giggles in the beginning of the month.  Such a sweet sound.  I just love those belly laughs he lets out.  He is very ticklish on his tummy and sides of his ribs.  He also giggles when you give him kisses on his neck.  Hannah gets a big kick out of his laughs, she is always trying to tickle him.

Noah likes to play on the keyboard kickmat still and has been sitting up in the bumbo seat more.  He can hold himself up sitting for about 10 minutes or so before his little head just wants to sag over.  If he is laying down, we find him doing "sit-ups" to try to sit up instead.  We love how interactive he has become, and how responsive he is to our faces and voices.  He is quite the little charmer!

We've had a busy month 3 and are looking forward to a healthy and WARMER month 4!

  1. Noah is such a cutie! The announcement was precious. Looks like Hannah is enjoying being a big sister, too. Love keeping up with you on your blog!
