August Wrap-up

We had a fantastic month of August.  We had tons of beautiful weather with lots of fun times spent outside soaking it all in.

Trying out some potty-training for this guy!
(He's gonna hate me for taking this one day)

I love taking pictures in a deep sleep!  Must have been an exhausting day of playing

We spent a rainy, Saturday morning bowling at Royal Scot.  (and of course John's competitive nature kicked in and he won both games!)

Hannah really loves bowling!

The best we could get of the two kids together!

Enjoying some time out at the cottage.  The kids fishing :)

"Mom do I really have to give you my blankie?"

Playing with our friends Chase and Piper at the lake
(I didn't take many pictures playing this day)

Couch snuggles with baby MooMoo                          My pretty little lady :)                                And handsome dude :)

Sneaking in a weekend trip staying with the Gemalsky's!
Trying out a local brewery in Tecumseh, not too shabby!          Hannah and Chloe in matching Minnie jammies

We had an absolutely amazing summer this year!  So many fun trips, experiences, and memories.  Here's to school starting to Hannah (and myself) and hopefully more fun this fall!

7th Anniversary

John and I took some time away to celebrate 7 years of marriage!  We dropped the kids off at my in-laws' cottage so they could keep them overnight and we headed out on our adventure.

We drove to Hudsonville to check out the local brewery, Pike 51.  The beer was delicious and the food was AMAZING!  For a place serving bar food, it was some of the best food we ate all weekend!  They had soft pretzel bites that were mouth-watering good.  We split a grouper sandwich which was equally delicious.  After a sampler of brews, we made the short drive to Holland where we were spending the night.

After checking into the City Flats Hotel in Holland, we got out and started walking around.  It was a nice afternoon to be outside in the open air.  Holland is a predominately dutch-influenced town, so there are all kinds of little touches throughout the downtown.  On Sundays the city basically shuts down, except for most of the places to dine.

We wanted to check out our neighbors' family member's brewery, Our Brewing Company.  The place has a unique feel to it and is very laid-back.  They don't serve any food, but you are welcome to bring whatever food in, or have it delivered to the bar.  We sampled a few beers and worked up a dinner appetite.  Moving a few buildings down, we ate dinner at New Holland Brewing Company.  We've eaten there once before when my family came out to visit and we were not disappointed.

After filling ourselves full, we walked for some ice cream.  Now we were STUFFED and headed back to the hotel to call it quits.  Thank goodness for light-blocking curtains in the room so we could really sleep in!!
7 years of married bliss with this fine fella!

The next morning we walked to breakfast at a little place across the street from our hotel.  John loves finding little bakeries or local coffee spots.  This one was a bakery, with delicious breads, muffins, and sweets.  Armed with coffee and satisfied bellies, we drove off to Saugatuck to check it out.
This quaint, little town with lots of adorable shops and places to explore.  I've never been, and I don't think John has for quite some years, so it was fun to see something different.  We walked around and checked out some of the shops.
Along on of the sides of a house was this great idea for an herb garden:

While waiting to eat lunch, we sat along the dock and watch this old ferryboat sail by.  I thought it was pretty cool!  (and later when I showed this picture to Hannah, she thought it was neat!)

We ate lunch at Mermaid Bar and Grill right on the water and enjoyed our simple, but delicious food.  What a great time away for John and I together.  (And we are definitely thankful for John's parents keeping the kids, but we were both ready to get back to them!)

So here's to many more years of love, happiness, and memories!  Happy Anniversary!
