Wedding and 5K weekend

This is a hodge-podge post of some fun times from the month of July.

John and I went to a wedding for a friend of his family's.  We had a great adult time together, but honestly were ready to get back home and just hang out at the end of the night.

I ran in my first 5K on what felt like the HOTTEST Sunday of the summer.  (I'm pretty sure it wasn't, but it certainly felt that way)  My goal was to finish under 30 minutes and I did it!!  My final time was 29:08.  I was very pleased with my time.  It was really hard to get out and run a lot during July because it was so stinkin hot.  I'm hoping to take a little break from running, let me sore achilles heal, and run the DinoDash in East Lansing this October.  The next 5K, my goal is to run with Hannah.  John is also hoping to run this one too, it will be our first family 5k!!

On one of our super hot days, we set up the kiddie pool in the backyard and took a little swim.  Some cute pictures from our 'pool' day!

10 Months

So much has been happening the past month, its just amazing how quickly Hannah is growing and changing.

What you've been up to this month:
You are just crawling everywhere!  You have gotten so fast too.  You love it when we crawl behind you and try to catch you, you laugh so hard.  It's so adorable, we love hearing that sweet laugh of yours.

You are walking so well behind your push toy.  Its amazing how quickly you've caught on to it.  You move so quick behind it, you are starting to navigate through the house pretty well.  We have even caught you pretty frequently balancing/standing on your own either behind the toy, along the cough, next to your table, etc.  You are looking like you might be getting ready to figure out this walking thing!  Although it will be fun to have you walking, I'm not quite ready for you to be that mobile!

You have really caught onto standing, you prefer to be standing rather than sitting to play with your toys.  You just love standing at your table, you sway side-to-side and "dance" to the music when it plays.  You start to "dance" when we turn on any music as well.  It's so stinkin cute!
You really enjoy standing at the sliding door and looking outside into the backyard.  You love pointing to the squirrels, leaves, and trees.  You also love standing on the couch and looking at the trees/leaves in the front yard.  We have a fun time standing there waiting and watching for daddy to pull in the driveway from work.

You have been having a great time playing under your highchair and crawling around under the kitchen table. You walk from chair to chair and try to play peek-a-boo through the chair slats.  You are amused under there for quite a long time!

You have started to pick up and not-so-fun habit... starting to scream and cry when you don't get your way, are told No, or have something taken away from you. As soon as we give you something else, or get your attention elsewhere, you are immediately smiling and laughing.  This is definitely a habit that we are not super happy about, but one of the fun stages babies go through.

You have started to eat a variety of foods: cheerios, pretzels, animal crackers, wheels, trying more fresh fruits, and some soft people food.  You are such a neat eater, you hardly ever make a mess.  You HATE having your hands and face washed off when you are finished your meals.

You have really begun pointing at things that have caught your attention.  You know what you want, and know what interests you, and its cute to see all the small things you take notice to.  You are so observant of your surroundings, its truly amazing what your tiny eyes pick up.  Oh to be a small child again and see the world through your eyes, what an experience!

You are FINALLY holding your bottle by yourself, with the help of the extra "handles" we can snap onto your bottle.  I thought we'd never get to this stage, given all the fight and protesting you gave us with just taking a bottle.

You are also trying to blow kisses when we leave places.  Since you are not the most cuddly baby, we don't want to force you to give hugs/kisses since you simply hate it, so this will work for now!  You see to understand that you are waving hi and bye, or so it seems.  You think its pretty funny when we get so excited after you wave.

Words you are saying:  Mama, Dada, Hi, baba, baby, lots of attempts at P words: puffs, puppy, Poppy, and Paul, AND PAM!!

4th of July

Hannah's first 4th of July was rather uneventful.  I had to work the night of the 4th and 5th, so we spent some quiet time together at home.  John grilled some tasty steaks, potatoes, and sweet pepper kabobs for us to enjoy.  We had a nice day just hanging out at home.

We had almost forgotten about this cute little car that was packed high on a shelf in our basement (still in the box!)  So why not put it together and play with it today!?  Hannah seemed pretty happy about playing with her new toy.  There is a little orange control box that has a horn, an accelerator control, and a few other buttons that sing and make noises.  She had a great time playing with this fun car.
